Kimberley Region
Go The Kimberley
The Kimberley region is one of the brightest jewels in north Western Australia's very sparkly box. The area covers over a million square kilometres and was one of the last places in Australia to be settled by Europeans. Even now only about 28,000 people call the Kimberley home, and massive stretches of it are uninhabited.
The Kimberley region is a nature lover's paradise and the scenery varies wildly, from the rugged interior to Broome and it's famed Cable Beach.
Atrractions on the Great Northern Highway include visiting the Bungle Bungles, Wolfe Creek, Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge National Parks, Geikie Gorge, Lake argyle, the Ord River and the towns of Derby and Kununurra.
From Wyndham to Derby, along the seasonal Gibb River Road, you can access El Questro (former million acre cattle station) and several other authentic working stations. Along the way are spectacular waterfalls, wildlife – including salt & fresh water crocodiles, Aboriginal cultural experiences, some real Aussie characters and breath taking scenery.
