Ningaloo Reef

Starting just above Carnarvon, the pristine Ningaloo Reef Marine Park offers 260 kilometres of one of the largest fringing coral reefs in the world, with some points as close to 100 metres of shore – meaning you can just snorkel out to it from the beach.

Ningaloo Reef is made up of over 250 species of coral (hard and soft) and is home to 520 species of fish along with Manta rays, Humpback whales, Dugungs, Sea Turtles and the magnificent Whale sharks, who make themselves known, from April through to June each year.

The area is serviced from the town of Exmouth and the small settlement of Coral Bay. Each offers a range of accommodation from camping through to 5 star and forward booking is a must, particularly in high season.

Favoured activities are swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving, surfing, just chillin' on the beach, fishing and boating and the weather can be relied upon to be warm all year round. See the Exmouth Visitor Centre.
