Barefaced Stories is gearing up for the inaugural Barefaced Story Battle, taking over Tuesday nights in October at The Bird.

Featuring a line-up of seasoned pros and some fresh faces, heats will take place each Tuesday, commencing 4 October with the final on 25 October 2011.

The winners from each heat will be eligible to compete in the Battle Final for a coveted allexpenses paid spot in next summer?s workshop series with Los Angeles-based storyteller and writer Brian Finklestein, and the chance to appear in the Barefaced Stories FRINGEWORLD 2012 performance series.

Barefaced Stories has been hugely successful since launching in January 2011 with workshops and a performance series featuring New York storyteller winner Margot Leitman at The Blue Room Theatre.

Moving to The Bird in February, Barefaced Stories has continued to showcase storytellers from all walks of life crafting touching, funny and slightly twisted tales in the monthly show, which can also be heard on a weekly podcast available through iTunes.

The Story Battle will feature many Barefaced regulars as well as some new faces and special guests, and will be hosted by local comedian and producer Andrea Gibbs, and The Blue Room?s Kerry O?Sullivan, who is returning from a judging role at Dublin Fringe Festival.

There is no set theme for the Story Battle shows, and stories must be five minutes or less.
